This fellowship gives new Ph.D. scientists and engineers (who have received a Ph.D. in the past three years) an opportunity to pursue independent research of their choosing that supports Sandia’s national security mission. Candidates for this fellowship are expected to have solved a major scientific or engineering problem in their thesis work or to have provided a new approach or insight to a major problem, as evidenced by a recognized impact in their fields.

Eligibility:
- Ph.D. conferred within the past three years or completion of PhD requirements by commencement of appointment (10/1/2022)
- No previous postdoctoral appointments at a national laboratory (pre-postdoc internships excluded)
- Research in areas meaningful to national security
- Development and submission of a compelling research proposal
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, which requires US citizenship
