Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL): Higher Education Research Experiences for Graduate Students

The Higher Education Research Experiences program (HERE at ORNL) provides research opportunities and associated activities that use ORNL’s unique resources to complement academic programs and enhance science, mathematics, engineering, and technology education; encourage careers in science and technology; and improve scientific literacy while contributing to the Laboratory mission.

Benefits: Stipend of $600 per week, paid bi-weekly (pro-rated if part-time). For students with a permanent addresses more than 50 miles from Oak Ridge, $150 per week housing allowance (pro-rated if part-time) plus one round trip (up to $500)

Length: Up to 52 weeks consecutively, possible extensions. Full- and part-time appointments
